Thank you for your support and interest in our family business! 

 

MapleTico Tours is our dream come true! A Costa Rican Travel Agency & Tour Operator out of Monteverde, Costa Rica. We are husband and wife entrepreneurs, Courtney and Jose Retana. We met in 2013 while Courtney was on vacation in Monteverde and we have been building our business and our family ever since then. 

 

The "Maple" part of MapleTico is Courtney, a Canadian from Halifax, Nova Scotia and Jose is the "Tico" (Ticos are how Costa Rican's refer to themselves). Jose has lived in Monteverde for over 25 years and has over 20 years of experience in the tourism. Courtney is a Registered Nurse in Canada and Certified Yoga Instructor. 

 

In 2014, we opened MapleTico Guesthouse, a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom house with a large terrace overlooking the Nicoya Peninsula, a couple years later, we built "The Casita" behind the main house. We can easily host 13 guests! We have always done trip planning through word of mouth referrals and for friends and family. MapleTico Tours offers travel packages that meet any budget or adventure level. We offer Vacation Packages, Customized Vacations, Tours&Activities, Transportation and travel advice!

 

During the pandemic, we did not stop dreaming and had the time to visualize a new trajectory for our future. We decided to level up! Honestly, our next step feels natural to us, we LOVE what we do together, we have established our name, we understand our guests and their needs, we have the experience and the passion. 

 

MapleTico Tours is more than a business for us, we are building a future for our beautiful daughters. We want to show them that with hard work and dedication, passion and love, dreams do come true.
